Data Deletion Policy
Last updated: April 30, 2026
ByteShift respects your right to control your personal information. This page explains what data we hold, how you can request its deletion, and how we process such requests. This policy is published in line with the data deletion instruction standards required by platforms such as Meta (Facebook), Google, and Apple, as well as applicable data-protection laws including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) and the EU GDPR.
1. What data we hold
Through interactions with our website (byteshift.in), social-media touchpoints, and direct communications, we may hold:
- Contact-form submissions: name, email, phone, message
- Appointment-booking details processed via Google Calendar
- Email correspondence and quote/proposal threads
- Aggregated, anonymized analytics events (Vercel Analytics)
- Authentication tokens or basic profile data, where you have connected via a third-party identity provider (such as a Meta-platform login, if integrated in future)
Full details on what we collect and why are described in our Privacy Policy.
2. How to request deletion
You may request deletion of your personal data at any time, free of charge. We offer two methods:
A. By email (preferred). Send a deletion request to contact@byteshift.in with the subject line “Data Deletion Request”. Please include:
- Your full name
- The email address(es) and phone number(s) you used to contact us
- Any third-party platform identifier (e.g. Meta/Facebook user ID) if your data was collected via that platform
- A brief statement confirming you are the owner of the data, or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf
B. Through the platform. If we received your data via a third-party platform (for example, Meta), you may also remove ByteShift's access through that platform's app/permissions settings. Doing so will trigger our deletion process automatically where supported.
3. Verification
To protect your data from unauthorized deletion, we may ask you to verify your identity — for example, by replying from the email address on file or providing additional details that match our records. We will not act on requests we cannot reasonably verify.
4. What we will delete
Upon a verified request, we will permanently delete or irreversibly anonymize:
- Contact-form submissions associated with you
- Email correspondence held in our systems
- Any third-party platform tokens or profile data we received about you
- Cached analytics segments, where individual identification is technically possible
5. What we may retain
We may retain a minimal subset of data where required for legitimate, lawful reasons, including:
- Tax, accounting, and statutory records (typically 7–8 years under Indian law)
- Records required to defend legal claims or comply with regulatory orders
- Aggregated, fully anonymized data that cannot be linked back to you
- Backups, until the next routine backup-rotation cycle (typically up to 90 days), after which the data is purged
Where data is retained, it is access-restricted and used only for the stated retention purpose.
6. Timeline
We will acknowledge your deletion request within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30 days of verification. Upon completion, we will email you a confirmation that your data has been deleted, along with a unique confirmation code you can retain for your records.
In rare cases involving complex requests or large historical archives, we may extend this period by up to a further 30 days, in which case we will notify you of the delay and the reason.
7. Third-party platforms
ByteShift cannot delete data held independently by third parties. If your data exists in services such as Meta/Facebook, Google, or others, you must request deletion directly from those providers per their own processes. We will, however, instruct any of our processors (e.g. our email host, Vercel) to delete data on our behalf as part of your request.
8. Withdrawing consent vs. deletion
Deletion is irreversible. If you simply wish to stop hearing from us or withdraw consent for a specific purpose (e.g. marketing), you can email us instead and we will honor that without deleting your record. We will tell you which option you have selected before we act.
